Hello there! If you are reading this, you may be a new member of Brant Disc Golf Club, or even new to the sport. First and foremost, welcome to your new addiction! We welcome new players with open arms, and strongly encourage everyone to read the following FAQs in order to familiarize themselves with the club and the sport.
Before we get started, here is a link to the Rules of the Game. You can acquaint yourself with those at your leisure.
BDGC MISSION STATEMENT
Brant Disc Golf (BDGC) is a not-for-profit club made up of players and disc golf enthusiasts like yourself. There’s an annual membership fee to be a part of the club, but you can participate in many of the club's organized activities whether you’re a member or not. Annual dues are $25.00, and support club events, course support and club promotions. Your membership also includes a numbered bag tag. You can challenge for tags casually, or wait for club events for tags to get resorted. The lowest score receives the lowest tag number.
There are 2 courses the club uses for events, The Dwayne Bereziuk Memorial DGC located in Paris and The Mohawk Park Course located in Brantford.

BDGC CLUB AND LEAGUE RULES
Notification about events is most often posted on the Brant Disc Golf Club Facebook page. Tournament info for all courses will also be posted on the kiosks at both courses
Now let’s jump in!
#1 I want to play organized disc golf! When/where can I play?
That’s great! We appreciate your enthusiasm and look forward to you joining us for our events. BDGC hosts multiple events throughout the year. Keep watching for more event information on the Brant Disc Golf Club Facebook page.
The 3 leagues are spring, summer, and fall leagues. This usually starts around March and ends in October. Again, look for our weekly post!
The Brant Club Championships will be held in October. *CLUB MEMBERS ONLY*
Monthly – we try and get a tag round in each month. Held on a weekend, this is a friendly competition in which we’re playing for tags. The bag tags you receive with your membership are numbered from 1 on up. The tags are turned in and resorted– the lowest score in the tag round gets the lowest tag number.
BDGC BAG TAG RULES
Tournaments – BDGC hosts a number of tournaments/ clinics throughout the year at both of our courses. The tournaments include different layouts, two courses in one day, a doubles championship, and other fun ways to spice things up. We also try to focus heavily on a quality player pack for our tournaments. We recommend talking to our members for more information about this. Be on the lookout for tournament registration information as it becomes available.
We also host other events throughout the year, including glow (night!), a beginners clinics, and a winter putting league. The best place to find information about all of our events is on our Facebook page, where posts will always be made.
#2 I want to get involved with the club. What can I do?
There is plenty of opportunity to be involved. To become an official BDGC member, you can speak to a BDGC board member for more information. We also organize work days in order to clean up the course, and we appreciate all those that volunteer to assist. Come out and earn some course karma! When we run events, we will solicit assistance as needed, and all help will be appreciated.
Finally, you can simply spread the word of our sport and follow the example set by others. Be kind, be welcoming, be helpful, lend out or give away some plastic, and #GrowTheSport. This is a great way to get involved.
#3 I Lost my disc. How can I alert others and find out if someone found it?
We have a lost and found page on Facebook
Brant Disc Golf Club lost and found page. Join it!
Once you’ve heard that your disc is in the bin, please make an effort to retrieve it in a short time.
Discs not picked up in a timely manner will be donated to new players or kids in the area.
#4 I found someone else’s disc. What should I do with it?
We ask that if you find a disc, you first contact the person it belongs to (if that information is on the disc), then take a picture of the disc and post it on the lost and found page. The disc can be placed in the lost and found bins at both courses.
If the disc is unmarked— has no name or number on it— it’s still not yours. Put it in the bin. We will do our best to find it's owner.
#5 We should get more courses! Why don’t we have more courses?!
The unfortunate truth is land is very difficult to come by. The club is constantly working to find new places to put a course in the ground. This is always a daunting task. If you know a place where a course could potentially be installed, and if you have contacts with someone that has authority over this location, please reach out to a board member and we will coordinate with the park regarding the possibility of a new course.
#6 Do I get discounts at stores?
The club has always offered its members discounts at a few local stores. The company's logos will be in the cover photo of all our Facebook pages. Once a member we will share the discount code for you to use.
#7 I’m a woman (or I know a woman) that would like to play with other women. What should I do?
I’m glad you asked! We have a wonderful group of female disc golfers that is constantly growing. Jen Snow, Taylor Breau and Kiana Shabatura will be organizing ladies events for anyone interested in joining. They will be making posts on Facebook once they have dates organized and confirmed.
#8 Where can I get BDGC swag?!?! Hoodies, discs, hats, beanies, etc.
Certain members keep discs and other merchandise on them for purchase. You can find these people and merch at events such as doubles and tournaments, but you may also catch them playing a casual round at the course. Speak to our board members in order to find out who currently holds merchandise and when/where you can purchase it.
In addition, BDGC does an annual sweatshirt order in the fall/winter. Be on the lookout on our Facebook page for a post regarding this order. It will entail a survey and you will be required to pay the club via PayPal to confirm your order.
#9 There’s garbage on the course. You should do something about it.
You’re right, you should. We’re all volunteers; members and board alike. Many of us stow a can-grabber and a bag on our cart or backpack. Of course, not everyone is conscientious. We advocate a carry in-carry out policy for any park visits. Garbage cans are emptied by park staff regularly at all the courses, but we can help them out by picking up stray trash and depositing it in the cans. Be responsible, and set a good example.
#10 There are branches in my way. Can I move them?
That depends on what you’re looking at. A dead branch in the way of your stance is legal to move during a round. If you’re looking to clean a fairway, dead branches or leaf clusters fall frequently, and can be moved to the sides of the fairway into the rough. Living branches—absolutely not. Do not remove, break, manipulate or bend any plants on the course. They are living hazards that make the course what it is. If you have a hard time getting around a tree on a fairway, learn a different throw, don’t hack the limbs off. Deliberate damage of trees or shrubs on the course (or off the course) is considered vandalism, and is a crime.
We organize volunteer clean up days throughout the year. This has to be pre-approved by the park, and it’s a great way to meet other disc golf members. Look to the Facebook page to participate in volunteer days.
#11 Can I draw on the benches? Can I write on the basket?
No.
We know a great throw or an ‘ace’ needs to be memorialized. Write on your disc. Take a photo. Post it for all to see. Writing on course structures is vandalism, and is a crime.
PLEASE NO DISC CHARGERS OR MANDO MAKERS!
#12 My group of friends that play has expanded. Can all of us play at once?
The standard number of players that play a hole at once is one to four. Any more than six is poor etiquette, and interferes with other players’ pace of play. If there are seven of you, three tee off on hole 1 together, and then when they finish the hole, the other four start hole 1.
If there’s a faster group than you playing behind your group, step aside at the next available tee and let them play through. Courtesy will always pay dividends in the long run.
